President's Message - Capsun M. Poe, President 2016-2017![]() Aloha Rotarians and Friends: Welcome to this week's meeting. Here's what is going on in our neck of the woods: School Supply Drive benefiting Palolo Elementary School It was busy at Kahala Mall on Saturday as PP Garry Yee, Randy Soriano, and I represented the Rotary E-Club of Hawaii and joined our friends from the Rotary Club of East Honolulu to donate and solicit school supplies for the children on Palolo Elementary School. Mahalo Randy for briniging his friend Jenn to help as well. From 8:30 am - 3:00 pm, we greeted mall patrons and told them about the need for school supplies and talked a little about Rotary and the work we do in our communities as we focus on Rotary Serving Humanity this Rotary Year. One highlight for me were seeing this group of young girls come with a mother and gleefully participate to help other children their age who may not be able to afford school supplies. The other highlight was seeing and knowing RCEH President Rory Lee purchase TWO third generation Apple TVs for teachers to use to aid in their instruction and the learning at Palolo Elementary School. It was a great day! President's Message - Capsun M. Poe, President 2016-2017Aloha Rotarians and Friends:
Welcome to this week's meeting. We we are an E-Club after all... "First up, for Pokemon Go players, the Pokestop is near the waterfall at the front of the building, but it should be close enough to this room to show up on your iOS or Android device." Those were the memorable words I used to open my first Board meeting of the Rotary Year. A little proof that our Club both likes to have fun AND be on top of tech trends. And yes, there was even a short Pokemon Go training session for the newest players. Meeting: Rotary Youth Exchange Has Touched My Entire Family (July 13th to July 19th, 2016)7/13/2016 President's Message - Capsun M. Poe, President 2016-2017![]() Aloha Rotarians and Friends: Mahalo for joining our weekly meeting. We've started the new Rotary Year with a lot of goings-on in our Club. Here are some of the updates I'd like to share with you: Back to School Drive: The Rotary Year has just begun and we already have our first chance at both a service project and a partnership opportunity. On Saturday, July 23, from 9 am-3pm at Kahala Mall, the Rotary Club of East Honolulu is spearheading a back to school drive to benefit Palolo Elementary School and we have been invited to partner with them. Assistance is needed to help roam the area, collect supplies from donors, and talk Rotary. If you are interested and available, please contact me; I am coordinating volunteers and shifts from our Club. 2016-2017 Board Members: Last week, I said I would share information on the dedicated team helping me serve all of our members. Please meet your 2016-2017 Board Members, whom I thank for sharing their time, talent, and treasure in support of the Rotary E-Club of Hawaii, Rotary D5000, and Rotary International as we work this year toward our goal of Rotary Serving Humanity: Meeting: What Do You Get When You Give to The Rotary Foundation? (July 6th to July 12th, 2016)7/6/2016 President's Message - Capsun M. Poe, President 2016-2017![]() Aloha Rotarians and Friends: Welcome to my first meeting as President of the Rotary E-Club of Hawaii. (That's a photo of me to your left.) Let me simply and sincerely say, "Thank you!" Thank you to my fellow Club members for affording me the opportunity to serve, nurture, and grow our Club as a whole and each of them as our members. The job of President begins much earlier than July 1 and I want to give special thanks to my predecessors: PP Russ Sumida (our Charter President, who asked me to join Rotary), PP Garry Yee (who asked me to run for President), and PP Laine Kohama (who has passed on every helpful tip and piece of information he can find). Both our Club and I will benefit from having these past presidents around to share their knowledge. |
