PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - Laine Kohama, President 2015-2016
Aloha Rotary E-Club members and fellow Rotarians!
Inducting a brand-new member is always a blessing. It was such an exciting time to have our first official New Focus induction at our club (mahalo Ayman for teaching us), with our newest member Samantha Switalski and current member Kama Hopkins. Please check out her induction video and mahalo to PE Capsun on recording the video. I’ll be showcasing Kama next week in my report as we are still working out the video upload for him. 😃
After the induction of Samantha and Kama, we had a private tour with Capsun and Kama of OHA (Office of Hawaiian Affairs), and our future DG Nalani joined us. It was a wonderful tour where we learned a bunch of things about OHA, and how they utilize their new location to conduct important matters concerning native Hawaiians. Along the way, we met a lot of brand-new friends, and had connections with people that knew Nalani and my Ohana. Rotary does bring people closer together, and it was good spending time with Capsun, Kama, and Nalani. Mahalo once again Capsun and Kama for taking your time out of your busy day to take care of us.
This week there was the District Assembly, and it was awesome. Sending a big mahalo to Biz, Capsun, and Courtlin for attending. This year we had round tables which I really liked with community leaders talking about issues we have around the state. In addition, the many classes I participated in were very helpful in growing and strengthen our Rotary club. I’ll be talking about this in the coming weeks.
On Saturday is our Rotary at Work day. We are working out the details on the project and will be busy doing something awesome with the community then. Mahalo again everyone! I’ll leave you with a quote, “Good, better, best. Never let is rest. Until your good is better and your better is best” - Tim Duncan
